About this Course

Join us as we paddle about 4 miles on the Missions Reach Paddling Trail in San Antonio. We welcome beginners and experienced paddlers alike. This stretch of river is full of bird life and has some fun river chutes to navigate. Due to low water conditions, we have a 250 pound participant weight maximum. Participants will receive instruction in river safety, river reading, and basic kayak handling. We will provide sit-on-top kayaks, paddles, life jackets, storage bags, and river guides. Participants will need to complete the Liability Waiver on their account. Participants will need to bring a lunch, two quart-sized water bottles, swimsuit, water shoes, sunblock, a change of clothes, and money for dinner. An old pair of sneakers makes a great water shoe. Please do not bring flip flops, Crocs, or water socks. More details will be sent in an email about a week prior to the activity. We will meet at the Parks Administration Building (1101 N. College St.) Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Recreation programs must meet minimum participant requirements prior to start date of the course, typically 3 or 7 days. Courses not meeting minimum requirements will be canceled. Full refunds will be issued for departmental cancellations. Full refunds/transfers will only be given if notice is received 10 or more days prior to the start of the program. No refunds will be given if notice occurs less than 10 days prior to the start of the program.
