About this Course

Enjoy a guided hike on the trails at Canyon Lake and Spring Lake Preserve Natural Area near San Marcos. At Canyon Lake Gorge, we will take a guided hike totaling 1.25 miles along exposed early cretaceous limestone formations, explore geological and aquatic features including dinosaur tracks and fossils while learning about the formation of Canyon Lake Gorge. The Spring Lake Preserve Natural Area hike consists of 2.5 miles of trails . We will provide transportation from the Recreation Center (1003 N. Austin AVE) to Canyon Lake and San Marcos. Bring a sack lunch, full water bottles, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a go-get 'em attitude. A small backpack will be ideal for carrying your lunch and water bottles. Trekking poles and backpacks will be provided if necessary. Total Distance: 4 miles Difficulty: Easy to Moderate More program details will be sent about one week prior to the activity.
